I am currently actively licensed in Virgnia, Maryland, and Florida and a participating member of PSYPACT which allows me to treat in a number of other states via teletherapy.
What is PSYPACT?
In general, therapists across the United States may only treat clients residing in states in which they are actively licensed. This significantly limits therapists from seeing clients if they move across state lines, travel for work, or are on holiday within the US.
Fortunately, through the PSYPACT Commission, psychologists (licensed therapists with the PhD or PsyD degree) have succeeded in engaging 42 states in an Interstate compact which allows participating psychologists to practice teletherapy from their “home” state to clients living in these States (this include Washington, DC).
